Baltimore groups

Baltimore is a city of neighborhoods, and much of its community work happens through neighborhood associations, community development groups, tutoring and mentoring programs, food programs and congregations that run outreach. Many of these neighborhoods are rowhouse blocks, and groups often organize around vacant lot greening, cleanups and block events.

These groups often share volunteers and run joint events with partners. A site that lists partner events alongside its own, and makes it obvious who is hosting, helps people show up at the right place. Hot, humid summers favor early or evening outdoor events, and winter brings occasional snow closures, so event pages need a simple way to show a change of time or a cancellation.

How a Baltimore project runs

  1. You send a short brief about the group, the site you have now and what people need to do on it.
  2. We reply with questions, then a written quote with the page list, the tools we connect and a target launch date.
  3. Your board or lead volunteer approves a page plan and a design for the home page and one inner page.
  4. We build the rest, test it with a keyboard, a screen reader and a phone, and launch on your domain.

Everything runs by email, shared folders and video calls booked in Eastern time, including evening calls when your volunteers are free. We have no office in Baltimore, and the work doesn't need one. If you want new photos of a program, a volunteer with a phone can take them, and we'll send a short shot list that keeps faces out unless people agree to be shown.

What you can order

Questions

What time zone do you work in for Baltimore groups?

We book calls in Eastern time. Everything else happens by email and shared folders, at whatever hour your volunteers can manage.

We run programs at several sites. Do we need several websites?

Usually not. One site with a page per program site, each with its own hours, map and contact, is easier to keep current.

Ask for a quote

Cost depends on the number of pages, which tools the site connects to, how much writing we do and how many people need to approve the work, so every project gets its own written quote.
